Enrique Ortiz: is a Professor with the School of Teacher Education, College of Community Innovation and Education at the University of Central Florida, Orlando, Florida. He received his bachelor’s degree from the Inter-American University in Puerto Rico, master’s degree from Phoenix University, and doctoral degree from Louisiana State University. As it relates to mathematics education, his primary areas of research focus on algebraic thinking, development of teaching beliefs, TeachLive simulations, social justice, diagnostic assessment, and cognitive learning levels (concrete, representational, virtual and abstract). He serves as a reviewer for several journals, and published articles, book chapters and books related to mathematics education. His recent teaching assignments include mathematics methods, problem solving, diagnosis and assessment, action research, and curriculum reform in mathematics and science courses.
