Jessica Lenz is InterAction’s Deputy Director for Protection. She leads InterAction’s flagship program on Results-Based Protection, having both initiated its development in 2012 and continues to lead the adoption of the framework within policy and operational efforts across the humanitarian community. Jessica has over 20 years of experience working on protection, specifically child protection and gender-based violence in humanitarian action. She has worked in Northern Uganda, Sri Lanka, South Sudan, Myanmar, Colombia, Indonesia, and the Philippines, among other contexts. Her previous work includes serving as Senior Director for Child Protection at Save the Children and is the co-founder of the community-based organization Empowering Hands—a female-led NGO in N. Uganda that supports the reintegration and psychosocial support of children affected by conflict. Jessica is also an adjunct professor on protection and has taught intensive courses with Johns Hopkins University, the American University of Paris, the Paris War College, Colombia University, and West Point Military Academy.
