Dr. Tony Beck received his PhD in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry at the University of California, Irvine and postdoctoral training at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. In 1990, he establish the Life Technologies Training Center, moving in 1992 to Cellco, Inc., a hollow-fiber bioreactor company, where he managed Research Applications, Drug Discovery and Asia Pacific Business Development. Dr. Beck later worked with the Walter Reed Army Medical Center on hollow fiber-based, zero gravity cell culture experiments for NASA’s Space Shuttle. 1997, he co-founded Tissue Engineering Sciences (TES) serving as VP for Research & Development. Dr. Beck joined the NIH’s National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (2000) as a Scientific Review Officer, National Center for Research Resources (2002) as a Program Officer. Areas of responsibility included Clinical & Translational Science Awards (CTSA), NIH Human Embryonic Stem Cell Infrastructure and the Science Education Partnership Award (SEPA), www.nihsepa.org, programs. Dr. Beck is currently the Director of the NIH Office of Science Education/SEPA.
