The importance of traffic safety education is important at all ages, but children and teenagers are especially at risk due to not being in the right age and environment to learn this subject. Also, according to their age, theory training will not be as effective as it should be. Therefore, due to the wide popularity of video games, one of the best ways to teach traffic safety to children is to design games that allow children to see themselves in critical situations related to traffic, cars, and the street, and in the game environment, they can make more correct immediate decisions.
The process of the project can be defined as a 3D game was designed using Blueprint and C++ programming language in Unreal Engine game engine environment so that the child can learn the correct driving behavior in the defined scenarios. In this project, two scenarios have been implemented, in the first one, issues such as running on the street and car acceleration are discussed, and in the second one, the concept of blind spot is shown to the player.
Attendee Benefits
By attending this lecture, the attendees can learn about appropriate educational methods using video games. Especially in this research, we have addressed the topic of traffic safety education for children and teenagers. A subject that, despite its importance, cannot be taught practically or physically to children and teenagers. To check the effectiveness of this game, a test was taken from high school and elementary school girls and the results show that the difference in scores before and after the training was significant. In this project, you can get to know the simple dimensions of game making using Unreal Engine and also the use of video games for education and training.
