So, you want to make a Serious Game for employee training? That’s great! Come, sit by my campfire and let me tell you about all the things that are about to go wrong as you embark on your new adventure! As full-time game development team at the nations’ largest mortgage lender, we created 10+ serious games over a 7-year period in the areas of training, marketing, and employee engagement. On many of these, we learned lessons the hard way, and we learned a lot of lessons. This session will talk about those lessons; what we learned, how we overcame them, and what you can do to prepare yourself for the speed bumps and roadblocks you’ll encounter as you develop your serious games. Presentation will be followed by Q&A for as much time as allowed.
This talk will use practical examples to illustrate potential pitfalls when planning, developing, and deploying your serious games. While the anecdotes will be based on specific games we developed, the emphasis will be on more high-level concepts that should be easily transferable to any project. If you're just getting started in serious games development or even thinking about getting started and don't know what to do next, this will be a great resource for you.
