AREduX project is a novel initiative that utilizes augmented reality (AR) technology to support individuals with dementia in performing daily tasks. Through this project, we aim to explore the potential of AR technology in aiding individuals with dementia in their daily lives. The project incorporates HoloLens technology to create a simulation of daily living activities associated to a person living with dementia , such as setting a dinner table and making a sandwich, to guide users through the process. This project involved developing 3D assets using Maya with a low-poly approach to optimize rendering for HoloLens hardware. These assets were then integrated into Unity Engine for physics and AR technology usage. In addition, a recorded narration to guide users through the simulation, providing an intuitive way to interact with the AR environment. Our presentation will include a demonstration to illustrate how the AREduX features and results from system usability scale.
Attendee Benefits
This presentation will be ideal for any faculty members who are interested in developing a stronger base in helping students learn to create meaningful and impactful games. They will learn about our curriculum, and be able to be better prepared to deal with the challenges to maintaining a degree program focused on making games that matter.
